This low-ratio (1:2) course is designed for climbers looking to gain the skills to safely climb longer multi-pitch traditional climbing routes. This is a very intensive and practical program for those looking to move to the next level of climbing, or prepare for bigger alpine rock objectives. Gear selection and placement, route selection, multi-pitch anchor considerations, station-management, multi-pitch rappels, rescue fundamentals and much more are all covered in this course.

Prerequisites Rock III, or experience leading sport or single-pitch trad climbs; lead climbing to 5.9, top roping to 5.10 standard. Return to top
Location The Multi-Pitch leading course is conducted in Squamish, BC. Squamish is located approx. 1 hour by highway north of Vancouver. Participants will be responsible for getting to and from the course location. Return to top

All other technical equipment supplied by CWMS: Please go over this list before the course to ensure that you are properly prepared. Contact our office if you have any questions, and we can suggest places for you to purchase or rent if needed. Keep in mind that you will be spending all of your time outdoors and that the weather can vary from one extreme to the other. The course will be conducted regardless of weather conditions, so prepare for anything! Please also bring a lunch and drinks, as you will not be able to return to your vehicle or local restaurant for lunch. Logistics and transportation The Multi-pitch Leading course is separated into 2 individual field days, each held in Squamish, BC. Participants are required to arrange their own transportation to and from Squamish. Start times are at 8 am in Squamish, with each day wrapping up between 4 and 5 pm, though depending on weather conditions the course may start earlier or later.
