Stoltmann traverse![]() A combination of sub-alpine ridges, glaciers and untouched valleys between the Squamish River and Princess Louisa Inlet offers the adventurous backpacker a glimpse into a true coastal mountain wilderness. Among the last of South-western BC's large tracts of un-logged areas, portions of this incredible region have recently been declared as a Protected Area. Join us on this eight-day adventure, and explore the mountains and valleys that so many people are struggling to preserve. Your trip will begin at tidewater on the world-renowned Princess Louisa Inlet. From here, you will strike out into the Coast Mountains as they have existed for centuries. Accessing a high ridge system from the ocean will allow you to spend time in the alpine, traveling around glaciers, peaks, and hanging valleys before heading back down to the road head in the upper Elaho valley. Prerequisites: Backpacking experience and a good fitness level. This trip is not technical, yet is quite a demanding backpacking adventure. No trails exist for the majority of the trip, and you will be traveling in areas that few have visited before. Dates: August 2*, 6-13, 2005 Duration: Eight field days Cost: $795. + gst Currency Converter (includes transportation to and from Vancouver) (all dates marked with an asterisk (*) are evening seminars held in Vancouver) |
